Unfamiliar Landmark

Main Street SentryIt is a fact that all over town silent sentries stand guard. And though they are dressed in the brightest clothes, most people barely notice their presence. Some have been on active duty for many years, while others have been decommissioned. A number of sentries are more of a color guard at the local Willimantic Fire Department. And while their primary purpose is to wet, from time to time they serve another purpose.

I decided to take a dog’s eye view of the town with my itchy shutter finger. As I cross town, the usual landmarks stand out–the hospital, familiar streets and buildings, etc. For a dog, I can imagine that, what they consider familiar landmarks look and smell a whole lot different. It is possible that these landmarks are more like street names. On the other hand the fire hydrants may be more like monuments. …well, may be not.
